About the Artist:

One of our favorite Origins shows in recent memory was a performance at the Apiary in September 2024. Grammy-winning Brazilian drummer Edu Ribiero led his trio in a cerebral, yet fiery performance featuring original compositions from their album News. We are thrilled to welcome Edu back with his band now featuring Seamus Blake! Origins has hosted many legendary saxophonists like Chris Potter, Kenny Garrett, and Melissa Aldana, and Seamus Blake is in that echelon. More importantly, his visceral sound, sense of groove, and creativity as a soloist make him a perfect complement to this band. Their recently released album, Caipora, is a no-skip masterpiece of Modern Brazilian Jazz.

This concert will hit the spot for fans of modern jazz with strong melodic and rhythmic sensibilities and expansive soloing. The album is reminiscent of the more traditionally leaning ECM records featuring musicians like Keith Jarrett, Dave Holland, John Scofield, and Joe Lovano.
